As a teacher and a mother, Courtney is focused on the future. She knows firsthand the importance of a strong public education, affordable housing, accessible health care, and environmental stewardship. Courtney is invested in the livability of our region for generations to come.
Growing up in Tigard, Oregon, Courtney’s heroes were her teachers who modeled compassion and encouraged her to stand up for what is right. Whether service clubs or athletics, student government or political organizations, theater or parent groups, it is fair to say that community involvement and communication have always been part of Courtney’s life. She has a long history of getting involved in every opportunity that comes her way—and her run for State Representative is no exception.
Courtney met her husband Joe while pursuing a major in French at the University of Oregon. She picked up Spanish before earning her Masters in Teaching from Pacific University. She loves inspiring, empowering and educating young people. Over the years, she has taught French and Spanish in Yamhill- Carlton, and Tualatin and Tigard High Schools.
Although she has lived in France, Mexico and Germany and loves to travel, she always appreciates coming home to the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Today, Courtney and her family live in Wilsonville. This spring, after her 9th year of teaching, she resigned hoping to find a different avenue for supporting staff and students in public education. Courtney sees securing a seat in the House of Representatives as an ideal place to impact smaller class sizes and better funding. She will work hard to fund the education that students and teachers deserve.
Courtney also wants to work toward safer communities, logical transportation solutions and necessary environmental protections. She wants to support working families by championing equal pay for equal work and affordable childcare.
Courtney is ready to fight for a better future for all Oregonians. She represents a change and a choice for the voters of House District 26. With dedication she will champion the causes her district cares about.
